Korean electronics company Cowon has introduced its new portable media player, the V5 HD. The touchscreen tablet features a 4.8-inch TFT LCD touchscreen with an 800x480 resolution, but it can push out 720p HD video and has HDMI as well as Composite outputs.

The device is powered by Windows CE 6.0 and will ship with up to 32GB of internal memory, which is expandable via SDHC memory. Other features include a USB 2.0 port, an optional T-DMB tuner, and various basic apps, such as a world clock, RSS reader, notepad, calculator, Flash support, picture frame mode, and a voice recorder. The V5 HD boasts a battery life of 45 hours when playing music, and about 10 hours for video.

Cowon's new PMP will hit Korean shelves on January 1 with prices starting at 299,000 KRW (about $256) for an 8GB model. When -- or if -- the V5 HD will be available in the US is unknown.
