The OS aside, the PlayStation Phone will come with a custom Sony Marketplace for purchasing and downloading games designed for the new platform. The device itself sports a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen ranging from 3.7 to 4.1 inches. The handset also includes a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, as well as familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. There's no Sony Memory Stick slot, but there is support for microSD cards.

The model pictured above is still in prototyping mode. Thus, there isn't a custom skin and the software is still rather buggy. In any case, a 2010 release is possible but 2011 is looking much more realistic. Can Sony Ericsson make the former possible or will it have to settle for the latter?
WOW this is like a crappy PSP go with a phone built in im not a fan. I could be a great idea if implemented the right way and it looks like it runs android which is a plus.
This could be a really great phone if your interested in mobile gaming and I hope they change the middle too because it looks weird.
>.> I for one thought this idea was interesting to begin with, then the idea crossed my mind. I don't think I'd actually purchase this coz for starters its probably going to be really thick, 2ndly Its a PSP and a Phone. I need my phone to have as long a battery life as I can in case of emergencies, and I somehow doubt that this would help it... Also, being an android system, whats really stopping the games from being brought over to other operating systems?
Meh. I'd just stick with getting a REAL phone... at least a smart phone at that. PSP phone seems gimmicky.
Oh joy... Now instead of waiting in line for a cashier to finish texting, I'll have to wait in line for a cashier to finish level 18.
No offense, but the joke was kinda stale... games have been on mobile devices since they came out; tetris, snake, that pong game with the bricks there, to modern games like Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, Tiki Towers, etc etc... I doubt we'll notice a difference. ![]()
Thank God they got rid of the Memory Stick, everyone else uses either SD or microSD. This would all be for naught if this is a fake.
Omg, this is ultimate present of a cellphone-gaming girlfriend.
hello ...
i don't do in smartphones & not yet in handheld gaming. I may look more into PSP2 than a PSP phone, anyway time will tell.
cheers!
Erm... did they learn nothing from the PSP Go?
I know they aren't the same, but still, this abomination looks exactly the same, very uncomfortable to hold.
If I can get Crash Bandicoot for it then i'll get it
I'll second that. Crash was the best game ever at the time & age. I wonder how thick the phone is gonna be.
android and psp games... sold. i just hope its a good phone too.
the battery life should be crazy on this thing
Who says I was joking? The difference is that this is a psp with a built in phone, not a phone that can simply play games. My point is plenty valid.
That wasn't a joke? Hmm... So what your saying is:
This is a game system that is also a phone. Whereas, We are accustomed to phones - especially current phones - that can also be a game system............ crack-is-whack-playa! Your valid point, is round!
not that impressed tbh :F

How many phones are out on the market that have built in controllers for gaming, rather than the standard touchscreen or a simple number keypad? My point is, that phones aren't meant for gaming. There aren't many people that buy a phone based on what games it can play, and this product may change that. Call me old fashioned, but I use my phone to call up friends and business contacts. Maybe it has something to do with the demographics of where I live. I'm used to seeing a bunch of mouth breathing teenagers that are more focused on texting their friends while at work, than they are on doing the job they are paid to do. Now, with this, I expect I will see plenty of those same teenagers playing games on their "phones" at work, while I pop a blood vessel in my eye waiting for them to finish so I can check out.
Wow they took how long to come up with this??
There's probably already a mod of a PSP Go running android...
Looks cool to me. Its a touch screen mobile phone with gaming ability ![]()
very curious about this phone, particularly the battery life
This is looking pretty nice. I wouldn't mind one of these but I only just recently got myself an Xperia. I wish the Xperia had the physical button layout of that phone, would be great.
This is so awesome!! This looks so much like a PSP, yet so much like a phone as well. If sony do indeed release this, I think it'll be a hit. The specs are standard android affair these days and probably enough to run games with heavy graphics (for a handheld at least).
Wonder what its price is going to be though.
IMO key is to focus on delivering something which gives the best experience to their target audience instead of being jack of all trades and good at nothing.
Couldnt agree more.. I can't see why they would make it into a phone instead of solving it's serious marketing flaws
i think it's better if they made the psp ''sim capable'' since
there's no new concept on the ps phone
only that it's a phone that you can play games on it
but the buttons and suchs would be a terrible experience for gameplay
I can think about 20 reason why not to buy this, still, i might get one when it comes out.... now just wonder, which carrier ??? (T-Mobile, ATT or Verizon)
want ^^
