Good news for Roku users, the company announced yesterday that YouTube is now officially available in the Roku Channel Store for all its "current generation" boxes – any box launched after July 2011.

Up until now, YouTube was available only on the Roku 3 and Roku streaming stick, with everyone else having to rely on workarounds like Twonky or PlayOn to access Google's video service. With this Roku catches up to the New Amazon Fire TV, which was launched earlier this month.

You can also send YouTube videos from your Android devices, iPhone and iPad to your TV, if you are on the same WiFi network as your Roku box. Just click on the screen icon to instantly send the video to your TV.

The complete list of Roku models that can now access YouTube include the Roku LT, Roku 1, Roku 2, Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD, Roku 2XS, Roku 3, the Roku Streaming Stick (both HDMI and Roku Ready versions), and the Roku HD model #2500.
