Good news for Final Fantasy fans: not only are we edging ever closer to FFXV's September 30 release date, but Square Enix has just released a new theatrical trailer and details for the game's full-length, CGI companion movie, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.

Set in the FFXV world of Eos, the feature film revolves around the magic-using kingdom of Lucis protecting a magical crystal from the technologically-advanced Niflheim. The Kingsglaive of the title are the royal guards of Lucis under the command of King Regis.

There are a few big names in the voiceover cast. You'll no doubt recognize the trailer's narrator as Game of Thrones' Cersei Lannister, Lena Headey, who provides the voice for an oracle called Lunafreya. The GoT connection doesn't end there; Sean Bean, who played Eddard Stark in the HBO series, takes on the role of King Regis, father of the game's main character, Noctis. Kingsglaive also stars Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul as Nyx, a member of the royal guards.

The movie is getting a limited cinema release on August 19 (it's already out in Japan). Confirmed cities include New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington DC, Houston, Seattle, Orlando, and El Paso, with more being added as the date draws closer. It will be available as a digital download by August 30 and on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 4. Anyone buying Final Fantasy XV's Deluxe and Ultimate Collector's Editions will also revive a copy of the movie.

In addition to Kingsglaive, a five-part anime miniseries called Brotherhood: Final Fantasy 15 is being released as a companion to the game. The first three parts are now available to watch on YouTube.

While FFXV is initially only being released on Xbox One and PS4, game director Hajime Tabata said Square Enix would "definitely take a good, hard look" at a PC version following the console launch.
