Verizon has launched a premium tech support service for its FiOS and high speed Internet customers that covers every connected device in your home.

Dubbed Tech Support Pro, the new service gives customers access to 24/7 support for devices such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones as well as smart home gadgets and appliances like thermostats, air conditioners, washer / dryers and even door locks.

Simply put, if it connects to a user's router, Verizon will provide support for installation, configuration and troubleshooting.

Other benefits include up to five courtesy Windows PC or Mac tune ups each year, 50GB of data transfer of pictures and movies between any storage device and an app for your Android or iOS device which can be used to contact and send photos to tech support reps to help with diagnosing problems.

The cost? An additional $10 per month as a standalone product or just five bucks extra when bundled with the FiOS Quantum Gateway router (which Verizon rents out for $10 per month).

I suspect that most TechSpot readers will view the service as a complete waste of money given their technical prowess but if you've got a friend or family member that always seems to need your help fixing something, it may be a worthwhile investment for them (and by proxy, you).

New and existing customers can sign up for Tech Support Pro on Verizon's website.
