Benchmarks: Grand Theft Auto IV, World in Conflict

Grand Theft Auto IV is the latest game to be released that we have included in our testing, and it seems ATI has yet to learn of its existence.

Although Crossfire does seem to be working, the Radeon HD 4870 1GB and Radeon HD 4870 X2 both delivered appalling performance at 2560x1600, while they were not nearly as bad at 1680x1050.

It is worth pointing out that the GeForce GTX 260 and GTX 295 results do not compare to the rest of the pack in this test as they couldn't use the highest quality settings due to the lack of enough on-board memory to handle the textures. Therefore, while the GeForce GTX 280, Radeon HD 4870 1GB, and Radeon HD 4870 X2 are using high quality textures, the GeForce GTX 260 and GTX 295 are using only medium.

The World in Conflict performance is competitive at 2560x1600, basically matching the GeForce GTX 295 and Radeon HD 4870 X2's performance. The GeForce GTX 280 managed 41fps beating the GeForce GTX 260 SLI configuration by an 8% margin.
