According to 3Dmark Vantage the Radeon HD 5830 is 12% faster than the GeForce GTX 285 at 2560x1600. This is an impressive result making Radeon HD 5830 a mere 4% slower than the more expensive 5850 with a score of 4848pts. Given that this graphics card should be replacing the Radeon HD 4890 in terms of pricing, the 37% performance boost compared to the latter was a nice surprise.
