Would they run on an MX440 with a PIII 800MHz? I'm guessing not but if anyone knows otherwise, let me know and I'll add them to the list.

Zeus: Master Of Olympus is also a great game that should run on almost any machine. I used to play it on my PII back in the day :) It's just a little hard to find. Amazon has it though :) :grinthumb

Is there a list of graphic intensive games? I spend a lot of money on a new system and intend to use it to its fullest!

Flatout is a good crash & burn type driving game that looks really nice and runs pretty well even on as little as a Radeon 9600. Does that count?

Chromium is a pretty little free shooter available for linux and windows

worms 2, also a fun game. Good luck finding it

Thank you all, feedback appreciated and list updated accordingly.

@LNCPapa, the minimum requirements for Flatout are a 1.5GHz P4 so I doubt it will even start on a PIII. Chromium looks nice though.

@Korrupt, why don't u try BF2, GRAW, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2, FEAR, Quake 4 and Half Life 2(Episode One included) if u haven't already. Or why not create a new thread with that topic? ;)

I woud like to suggest adding the superb adventure game "The Longest Journey" to the list, which is ridiculously easy to run. If you loved Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series (which I did, of course) then you'll really enjoy TLJ. In fact, I might even say it's better than both in terms of story, dialogue, and puzzles (which are all balanced perfectly). It only falls short in terms of music and humor, at least in terms of comparison to GF and MI. It's sequel, "Dreamfall," is fairly graphically advanced, but it might just be stripped down enough to fit this list too.

Also for the adventure fan: "Loom," "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis," "Sam and Max Hit the Road" + "Sam and Max Season 1" (6 episodic sequels to "Hit the Road" with another season in the works) "Full Throttle," and "the Dig." (If any of those are missing, that is. I already saw DOTT there.)

I would also like to suggest adding "The Movies" + it's expansion, "The Movies: Stunts and Effects" from Fable's developer.

If your machine can run Fahrenheit, aka Indigo Prophecy in North America (which is an excellent, excellent game in it's own right and one of my all-time faves) then it should run the Movies just fine.

The Movies is a challenging but interesting strategy, sort of a mix between the Sims and Roller Coaster Tycoon series, but it's real strength is it's movie-making simulation, in which you can make your own digital films with literally few limits but your imagination and patience. It's expansion improves both aspects of gameplay and adds stunts to the films, played by your own stuntmen trained in the stunt training centers you buy. It's quite fun to see your rising stuntment stars abuse pyrotechnics, torture devices, etc. as training and then see it all come together in the filming of your latest project.

Also from Fable's developer is the excellent duology, Black and White 1+2. The second one is quite graphically enhanced (heavy use of pixel shading), so it might not be right for the list, but the first is a breeze to run.

Great list Rage :D

You should add TES: Oblivion as well, I played it with 512mb RAM and a 6200 pci card, it ran on medium with 20+ FPS ( which is amazingly good ), if your system is worst then my old system then you could download Oldblivion which will make it run on even integrated cards on medium-high!

@TimeParadox, I doubt Oblivion will run on a PIII. All the games in the list should run on a PIII 800MHz CPU with a GeForce MX440. I doubt Oblivion is one of them. ;)
If someone knows otherwise though, let me know and I'll add it.

Giants: Citizen Cabuto

I played it on a little better processor, Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz, but I played it on a GF2MX 32meg card. The original release of the card, not the later MX100/MX200/MX400 versions .

I know the original Dawn of War runs great on my rig, and the expansions should run just as good.

I really like Ground Control 2, but I don't know about anyone else. It runs perfect also.

Also, Doom 3 really should work on slow rigs, because it does on mine, but it is on low, of course. Doom 3 requires low settings, and for premium performance a little tweaking.
