Check for viruses, spyware and that kind of crap.

Also, check that your CPU and video card aren`t overheating. I had a radeon 9600XT and it worked like a charm.
Don`t blame ATI just for one card.

Yo how old is your card? Mine was about 2 years when it broke. It hasn't got annything to do with overheating and stuff it is just old and used. It is a dead card XD. Just buy a new one and your prob is solved. You can't save a dead card. I bought a new one and I never have anny prob. these cards can't live forever.

Hi, I got an ATI Radeon 9600, and since I installed it my pc began to crash specially when I run specifics games; I dont'n know if it is motherboard problem but, I know that videoboard is new an HD too. After the windows crashes, I always receive "System has recovered from a serious error". Any help, do I need to change Mainboard?

Yo how eccatly does your pc crashes? Does the screen turns off or does the game just goes back to windows? (to your desktop)

@Sagreb, does it give u a blue screen before it restarts or does it just restart randomly?

Restarts radomly, I tried everythig to change any possible settings, but that didn't help. I heard that changen power supply up to 400 w may help; the thing is that I do not know how many watts is my pc power supply, ATI recommends 300 w.

Hello Sagreb!, First of all I want to say don't get fooled by the watts only, it's better to get a good quality 300W PSU (like antec) than a powmax 400W, I've burn two PSU in the past by ignorance and had the same problem with my old 9600XT I just build the system in the case and PSU that came with it and couldn't play a game for more than 20 min, after the PSU died buy a new one and thought a 400W any brand will do it, and yes I finally played some games, but with some others will lockup or just show some bad gphx, then I learned about the 12V rail and this PSU got only 14a on it, upgrade to Antec 500W 12v 20a and problem solved. Also let us know your MOBO and CPU, this plays a big role in gaming matters.

Just for the record, now my pc crashes almost every 15 min, even if I'm not running any game or 3d application, its getting really messy. I going to change to my old GeForce in the meantime; I don't want to harm my brand new HD. I will give details of PSU wattage later on. I mean I want this card to work, it cost me $115, and don't want to loose my money for a simple compatibility problem; all I wanted was a performance increase for my beloved and almost old PC

Sounds like either an overheating problem or the power supply is dying. To help make sure its not an overheating problem, get a can o' air and blow out alll of the accumulated dust and crud. To test if you PSU is going bad you need a known good PSU and swap them out. If the crashes go away, presto, problem solved.

Can you post your psu's spec? (brand, watts, and amps on the 12v line). The specs should be on a sticker on your psu. You will need to open your computer case for this (do this while you are blowing out the dust).

AMP on the +12v line: 0.84A
AMP on the -12v line 18A

Is this wrong, is this a problem with power supply?

Even now that I am using old nvidia video board, the problem won't stop.

Another thing, restart problem now happens when booting, it keeps doing that, until power off pc using power switch in the back of power supply.

I am afraid of my HD integrity at this moment, so many crashes will have a negative impact on it, if it turns to be a mainboard problem, I am afraid will need to get a new computer, instead of replacing defective parts, which at the end is more expensive. The worst thing is that I was saving money to get a BOXX,

Do you have at hand another PSU? it will be good to try if that solves the problem. Actually I would dare to mention that is 90% a PSU problem. But still could be the other 10%, (mobo, currupt windows installation, etc)

FSP (Fortron), Antec, Enermax or OCZ all make good power supplys. If you can wait a few days you can get one for much cheaper from an online store like newegg.

And @Sagreb, that PSU is complete garbage. Replace it ASAP. And I think u got the numbers mixed up, it should be 18A on the +12V rail and 0.84A on the -12V rail.

Hi everyone, I just changed the PSU, and guess what "didn't work, however when I was about to give up and despair, I remenbered when the problem started, and it turns to be an HD problem. Yes the brand new HD was defective, I changed it for my old one and problem solve; now I need to go and change it for a good one. I could never imagine that, a defective Seagate Barracuda, well I guess I was the lucky one this time.

Issues with the blue screen? I have been having many issues receiving a blue screen whenever irun a program that uses 3d acceleration (IE ANY GAME) I get a blue screen of death with a stop error and ati32duag.dll error. I've reinstalled drivers and direct x, used a driver cleaner, turned off overclocking, and graphics setting and still getting it. I'm thinking I may have to flash my bios. Any clue as to how to do this safely without wiping my harddrive or motherboard? or ideas on what else to try?
