Help - BF 1942 crashes in single player campaign

Hi guys,
I have BF 1942 with road to rome & secret weapons expansions. It runs O.K. except when I play campaign - when I finish the first battle the screen goes blue and I have to restart the computer, once I do I get the message that I had a major system error! This happens every time - it doesn't happen when I play instant battle?

I know just enough about computers to be dangerous

I run a P4 2.4
Gigabyte P4 Titan 533 motherboard
ATI Radeon 9600XT graphics card (3 weeks old)
256mb memory (have to update my motherboard to expand)

Any ideas? I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help.

Cheers
Mark

I would suggest you look into more memory. Do you get any message about the virtual memory min being low? Try upping the virtual memory. The best solution would be to have a min of 512 megs of ram. BF is a memory hungry game.
