I Got The Fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT FIGURED IT OUT!!!! I have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe M/B with onboard SoundMax soundcard. I tried everything and still kept getting the Driver not loaded! Reboot and try again! Finally, I decided to do a most obvioius choice when dealing with something on-board..........I reset the CMOS! When I rebooted it found my card and i was able to install normally. Hope this helps you all. ENJOY!!!!

You should be able to get your sound drivers from your computer manufacturers website.

I have a Dell 4600 (P4 266, 1gig ram, win XP) with Creative SB Live sound card. Two days ago my power supply went dead and I had to replace it with an Antec power supply. My clock got reset to 6/2004 which I fixed. Since then every time I start my computer the New Hardware Wizard popped up and it found a "multimedia audio controller". Yet, it could not find the driver for me and therefore has a yellow ? next to it. I have tried to re-install the Creative SB Live soundcard driver and no help. My sound card is actually working well. I only have another PVR (Hauppauge 150MCE card) added to my computer and its driver has been updated and won't work with this "multimedia audio controller". All this started after my power supply went dead and I replaced it with another. Does this have anything to do with the power supply? Any input is appreciated. This is driving me nuts.
Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Go into your bios, and disable the onboard sound.

Please don`t post the same question in different threads. Thanks.

Regards Howard

Sound Card Problem

Hi there. I had the same problem but I fixed it. Go thru the "Install new hardware" function until you reach the part where you can choose from CD or List. Choose "List" then click "Browse" and navigate to where your drivers are stored on your hard drive. Mine are C:\Dell\Drivers. There are heaps of them. I just started at the top and tried to install every one and when the screen comes up that says "Cannot Install Hardware" use the "Back" key and click "Browse" again and choose the next one. Eventually you will see one that continues right through the setup. Once complete I had to go into "Device Manager" and under "Sound, Video and game controllers" I had to double click "Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device" and choose "Disable"
Bingo , I have SOUND. I hope this works for you too. Let me know how you go.
Cheers

Drivers

You will need to find where your drivers are stored. Do a "Search" on your hard drive ,they have to be there somewhere. When you find them follow my description from before. Good luck.
Cheers

Go to the toshiba website, find your laptop there and go to the downloads/support section. Get your drivers. Reboot in safe mode, and install from there.

EDIT: and don't double post, or bump threads like so. Its bad habit.

My multipedia audio controller's soundmax driver is gone and I don't know where to install it. My computer model is a Dell Dimension 3000. System Service Tag is 1TXY761 and Chassis Serial Number: 1TXY761. I went to the Dell Support site and found the list of driver downloads. But I don't see soundmax in that list. Can someone please help?

This should be it. The Soundmax App should be included with the driver if i'm not mistaken..

HP Brio 410

I have an HP Brio 410.I formated my computer using a Windows 2000 Disk.I had this problem before. After I reinstall Windows 2000(Because I don't notice how much space I have been using and it gets real slooooooow.)I have Audio Codecs in my Hardware list that are so called working and there not making a noise.I have PS/2 Altec Lansing speakers that are working fine because I just got them and before I formatted the computer they were working and I had this same problem a long time ago when I formated. The speakers ARE plugged into the right jack so thats not a problem. When I use Windows Media Player it says that it does not have audio drivers installed.I rember I had Crystal Audio Codecs installed on every single computer I've had including this one and they all worked. When I install the Crystal Audio Codecs it puts a Sound icon with an ! next to it.When I install the drivers it STILL won't work.I am lost and don't know what to do anymore.HELP PLEASE!!!???

DB84: the yellow ? means that you have a driver issue that needs to be fixed in order for that device to work properly. Download SIW or Everest home and post up here the make/model of your motherboard or go google for its drivers.

DJCUE95:Audio codecs are just software to decode certain music files. What you need is to install the drivers for your sound card. Try the one on this page: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...35&swEnvOID=24

so you've downloaded a file called bdf652en.exe? and extracted that to a temporary location etc?

Try this:
-Go to Add/Remove Programs, find something that looks like its part of your audio drivers like Crystal Audio, Realtek, C-Media etc. and uninstall it. If you don’t have anything like that then don’t worry, just skip to the next step.
-Go to device manager>sound, video and game controllers. Uninstall anything relating to audio devices. Reboot your PC.
-When it comes back to windows and detects the new hardware, cancel it from installing by itself.
-Go to the folder where you’ve put the extracted sound card drivers, and run the setup.exe
