urgent help please

here's the deal
i have a TOSHIBA Satellite A75 PSA70U-003002 lap which suddenly started having trouble with the audio well to be more clear i cannot listen to anything...i saw that the multimedia audio control stuff got uninstalled so i tried installing it with the cd that came with the lap the one used to install unistalled drivers and reformat the computer anyways i tried with that and it was useless...i would like to know what could i do since i have no other cd and the computer indicates me that i need a cd to install it so i went ahead and got to the Toshiba support page and started looking in the driver section if i could find it but to my not so big surprise i found out that they don't have that in their support page anyways is there a specific place where i can download the multimedia audio control or do i have to format my computer and start from zero...
would appreciate all the help im desperate without the audio..for me it is quite annoying not being able to hear music while i use my computer anyways thanks in advance for any response and i hope someone can help me

I'm having the same problem as everyone else. I have an Everex NC1500 Laptop, I got it for Christmas of 2006, and the multimedia audio controller is now missing. I have no volume control in my start menu and have no volume at all coming out of my speakers.

I run Windows XP

I went to the everex home page and got no help. They told me to make sure it was not muted. Please help.

hey, i recently had the same problem with the soundmax integrated digital audio that pretty much all you guys seem to have. judging by the dates on your posts i hope this will help someone at all.

okay, so i'm going to have to assume you've downloaded the drivers, or you have them on a cd. you'll need to open the add hardware wizard. go to the control panel, then click add hardware. the same thing will also pop up if you detect new devices in the device manager, or if you restart and it doesn't recognize your multimedia audio controller.

from there. you should:
-click "yes, i have already connected the hardware", then Next.
-pick "multimedia audio controller" from the list
-specify the location of the .inf file in the driver package you got. for the soundmax drivers, from the extracted folder go to SMAXWDM then W2K_XP then select the .inf file you see.

then you're done! i hope this helps if you googled this thread like i did.

Audio Sound Driver for GA-8SIMLNF

Replying to you question joneslu07 I agree with howard hopkinso. Use the manudactors site.

I recovered my friends PC sound after his hard disk failed. His motherboard is GA-8SIMLNF VER 2.0 . This identity is clearly printed on the motherboard. In DirectX I believe the motherboard was identified as GA-8SIMLNF REV 1.x so this may be relevant to you.

The driver is described as ‘SigmaTel C-Major (STAC97N) for SiS audio driver’. The drive install file is called STAC97N_613109010.exe and is suitable for XP operating system. I suggest you go to 'support packardbell com/uk'
and click through the site's ‘model selector’ until you get to the down load support sections for PC models IXTREME 6052 or IMEDIA 3042. You will find the audio driver installation file there. Both of these models use the GA-8SIMLNF motherboard and are manufactured by Packard Bell.

The Intel 82801EB ICH5 is your IDE or SATA controller. The AC'97 Audio Controller PCI is a generic name for your audio chip. What motherboard do you have? From there we can look up the specs and get the driver for you.

I don't know what to tell you. That is the only Windows XP driver available from Intel for the sound chip on your motherboard. I've assumed that you have Windows XP.

Media Audio Controller GA-8SIMLNF

Just a qucik update to this thread - if anyone is looking for a multimedia audio controller for a Packard Bell (labelled NEC Computer), iPRO the driver is also labelled as 'stac97_sis_614013798' from the ipro 2004> product list in the packard bell download link here;

support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=6943480000&pi=platform_veloce_ipro

This driver is for a GA-8SIMLNF Rev 3.1 Motherboard as the realtek driver that giga-byte recommend causes a STOP error on installation

Thanks for the tips above I have solved my multimedia audio controller driver issue

Same problem

I have the thing where it is looking for the Multimedia Audio whatchamacallit. No sound at all. It was after I had gone through to delete some programs (yup... I'm dumb) so it must have been that.

I have no CD. I inherited this computer. All I can tell you is that it's a Dell with Pentium 4. Yup, I know NOTHING about computers. So, how do I find out the information needed to find out what driver I need to download off of the net? If you can, explain it to me like I'm nine... or better yet 90 (no offense to the older tech geeks).

Thank you SO much!

James
