FTP problem. Unable to upload swfs..?
Am using Smart FTP.
When dragging a local file onto my remote folder (which IS connected etc..) It says this on the log: " Remote file exist check: 'divine.swf'. SIZE divine.swf 550 Can't check for file existence PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (67,15,18,47,253,176) Opening data connection to 67.15.18.47 Port: 64944 STOR divine.swf 150 Accepted data connection 4149979 bytes transferred. (42.9 KB/s) (00:01:34) 226-3900.0 Mbytes free disk space 226-File successfully transferred 226 94.429 seconds (measured here), 42.92 Kbytes per second SIZE divine.swf 213 4149979 PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (67,15,18,47,248,196) Opening data connection to 67.15.18.47 Port: 63684 MLSD 150 Accepted data connection 7153 bytes transferred. (26.2 KB/s) (266 ms) 226-ASCII 226-Options: -l 226 61 matches total Transfer successful." It says transfer succesful but it doesn't actually go through.. I think "Can't check for file existence" might be part of it. At other times another message comes up saying "UNABLE TO CHECK FILE SIZE" but in different phrasing :P.. Anyway all I want to do is upload a swf and it wont go through. i need help. Ty =) |

Why do you think this is not working? Can you upload other kinds of files?
The file obviously goes through. The server says the file was transferred ("226-File successfully transferred") and the server clearly reports the stored file size back ("213 4149979"). On some FTP sites uploads made by users have to be reviewed by the administrator before being shown to the public. |

I think it is not working because the files do not appear when I have uploaded them! (yes I have refreshed.)
Also, I have had no problem before now.. its just suddenly that my swfs wont upload (htms and pictures are fine) |

Try reinstalling FTP or get another FTP program.

I have tried both. SmartFTP failed, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Still failed. Same with CuteFTP. Oh and on CuteFTP it says "transfer succesful" without any.. error of any kind. BUt the file doesn't appear there..

Since other types of files work then the problem is most likely some filtering on the server. Contact the server administrator and ask what is going on.

try filezilla its free and works great
check for (passive mode)check for types of files to transfer if you are using html/editors try dreamweaver it has site server transfer utility built in no need to use separate ftp app. try unchecking passive mode |
