after typing the password 3 times, it shows that message with code number and it is blocked... it does't react on anything...so you can only turn it off and when you turn it on again everything is same...it is working, but with bios locked... ...and I think that there is no risk with additionally locking

what I did was updating the BIOS to the latest. Then I tried several Passwords and when I tried 'x300' it worked.
Maybe you try this method first, before paying for some masterpassword.

I purchased a Latitude notebook at auction, but when I tried to use it, the first thing I got was the dreaded grey screen requesting I "type in the primary or administrator password," which I did not get with the machine.

The service tag no. is "2Z7YC1S - 595B" so the latitude.exe program does not work. I've also bought a manual from ebay and tried to locate the bios chip for the paper clip method, but it's beyond me, and probably best left for the mechanically minded.

I've contacted Dell Support, and initially thought they were going to assist, but seem now to have hit a brick wall because I bought at auction.

Can someone please help? I believe Rustam has been successful in assisting many caught in a similar predicament to me.
