Channel Performance: Gaming
The impact of removing two of the three memory modules was rather limited in gaming scenarios.
At 1920x1200 in Unreal Tournament, single and dual-channel DDR3-1333 memory delivered exactly the same result as the triple-channel memory. At 1280x1024 dual-channel was 4fps faster than single channel, and just 5fps slower than triple-channel.
When testing in Quake Wars the single-channel memory configuration was just 1fps slower at 1920x1200 when compared to the dual and triple-channel memory. At 1280x1024 there was just a 3fps difference.
Similar results are seen in Far Cry 2, at 1280x1024 the dual and triple-channel configurations delivered the same result, while the single-channel config was 3fps slower.
