16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

  1. I'm having the below message.
    The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction
    CS:0fe1 IP:0613 OP:63 6b 61 72 64
    Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
    I tried many suggestions on the google but I could not fix it. I reinstalled SP3 as well. I do not wanty to reinstall my pc , Please help.

    The application you're trying to run isn't compatible with XP's command prompt. If it's a pure DOS application, you could try running it in DOSBox or install some DOS version into VirtualPC or similar virtualization environment.

    I'm not intentionally /manually running an application. A service or some services are suddenly throwing that error in the background while I use any other standard applications installed on my pc. The error does not happen due to usage of a specific application. so , how can I find the name of the service running in the background which is causing that problem and uninstall it ?
