Mass Effect Andromeda is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Originally due for release in the holiday period of 2016, pushing back the next entry in the space series to early next year disappointed many fans. But, as was the case with The Witcher 3, the delay should result in a better final product.
Recently, Andromeda creative director Mac Walters answered a few fan questions about the game on Twitter. He confirmed that all of the game’s characters, even the customizable ones, will be based on face scans.

The faces of Andromeda’s protagonists - siblings Sara and Scott Ryder – are modeled on the actors that provide their voices - an effect also used in previous Mass Effect games. You can see just how accurately Bioware replicated some of the actors in this Reddit post from nycboy95.
As the name suggests, the latest Mass Effect title is set in the Andromeda system. And while it is open world, players won’t be able to explore the entirety of the galaxy. When one fan made the assumption that the game’s ship, the Tempest, wouldn’t have access to the whole of Andromeda, Walters called it “a very wise assumption. Yes.” This isn't No Man's Sky, after all.

In September, Bioware and Sony unveiled Andromeda's first gameplay footage. A PlayStation 4 Pro was used to show the game running in 4K, which, even in a pre-alpha state, looks fairly stunning. While it may support Sony’s latest machine, Andromeda producer Michael Gamble said there are currently no plans for it to support Microsoft’s Project Scorpio or the Nintendo Switch, but this could change if the demand is there.
Mass Effect will launch on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next year.
