AN832x AMD 939 problem Post Code 0.6

My system went south last week. The only warning was that the ABIT splash screen was distorted, but the machine booted just fine. Now, when I power on the machine, there is no beep, but the drives power up, and all the fans are running. The onboard LED display shows a post code of 0.6, which is not listed in the manual.

I have tried all of the following, with no change.

clear the CMOS (remove battery, change jumper, wait for a few minutes)
Reseat the memory
Boot w/o memory
remove all cards
boot with different (known working) video card
"float" the motherboard by removing the screws connecting it to the case
boot w/o cpu attached
boot with keyboard disconnected

the system specs are

Abit AN8 32X Socket 939 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200 CPU
Allied AL C400ATX 400W PSU
1GB OCZ PC-3200 Memory
WD 2500K 250Gb SATA
WD 80Gb ATA
EVGA 7300GS PCI-E 256MB
Hauppauge Win-TV PVR350

Since nothing comes up on the screen, I can't tell which BIOS version is on there. It is about two years old and was bought from the now defunct Monarch Computers.

If someone can tell me what post code 0.6 is, I'd be most grateful. I emailed tech support at ABIT but got no reply.

Thanks in advance.

I posted a similar note on Raptor pit, since the Abit forums are closed to new members, and got some people suggesting that it was the CPU. However, no one seems to be able to point me to a place that says what Post code 0.6 is.
