Apple M1-powered Macs set to arrive next week: faster and more efficient

lol that's why I said it seems like this is going to fail badly. XD

How many people do you think buy a MacBook Air with the intent to dual boot Windows on it? Very close to zero, which is why the loss of dual-booting is irrelevant in this machine.

I support a lot of Mac users where I work and a single person did that on a MacBook Air and he did that because he likes the design but is a PC user. And after a while he just went back to using it as an OS X-only computer.

All the MacOS users I personally know of have Bootcamp ready.

About half of the people at my work (over 2000 people) are Mac users who also have to support Windows Users. Everyone runs Bootcamp. I'm a Windows Developer who has to also support Mac sooo... yeah, a know a few people.

I was specifically referring to the MacBook Air because it's a poor choice for using Windows. This is because the power management that Apple bakes into OS X doesn't work very well in Windows and the MBAir kills its smaller battery pretty quickly. My 15" MBPro can at least last a while longer in Win 10 thanks to a much bigger battery and my Mac Mini has no such concerns being wall powered.

But power management in Win 10 on a small battery Mac doesn't make it a very useful computer on the go.

And this is why the MBAir has the best chance of proving whether M1/ARM powered Macs are viable. It takes the things the MBAir is best suited for and optimizes for them. We'll see how the emulation quality or developer adoption for M1/ARM goes over the next year or so.

Roger that. Very good points and I absolutely agree with ya. Sadly, the organization I work for literally buys the completely wrong hardware and make it wall powered.. like whatever is the cheapest pile of crap. I have been using a dual core with 8GB's of RAM (which was recently an "upgrade" in their eyes)... I just replaced the battery as it swelled so much that it split the frame and popped the keyboard off. The IT department shipped me a new battery with instructions on how to replace it by my self rather than replace the unit. They are CHEAP. :(
