According to Taiwanese blog Apple Daily, Cupertino is hard at work on its next-generation MacBooks. Originally planned for March, the site reports that Apple delayed the refresh due to short supply of mobile Core i5 processors, and it now intends to launch the new notebooks this month.

If we understand the translation right, Apple will roll out updated 13, 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pros with new Core ix Intel chips. Other configuration options will include a 640GB hard drive or 284GB solid-state drive, and Apple Daily says the new systems will be capable of running for up to eight hours.

Most of the remaining article covers market and shipment-related details, but nothing stands out as particularly noteworthy. Apple's delay lines up with other reports of supply issues, which suggest Acer is to blame due to excessive orders of Intel's new processors.

What the heck is in that picture?! Either that's a newborn Asian lady or a ludicrously large "LapTop" computer!

"Look Lynn, I just got the new Apple 50" MacBook Pro! Clear the pool-table off so I can set this down and show you!"

Cool, I have been wondering when Apple would move onto the new i3, i5 and i7 processors as one of my family members is looking at upgrading their old iBook. I told them to hold off on the upgrade until the refresh.
