With two new iPhones now in stores, Apple is expected to turn in its best holiday quarter ever. According to KGI Research analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino-based company will sell a whopping 82 percent more iPhones this quarter compared to last.

In total, Kuo believes Apple will put 71.5 million iPhones in the hands of consumers this quarter and could climb even higher if the supply chain holds up. If the estimates pan out, it would represent 40 percent year over year growth.

Under current circumstances, Kuo expects the iPhone 6 to account for nearly 60 percent of all sales during the quarter, or roughly 41.65 million units sold. The iPhone 6 Plus checks in with 15 million units sold while the 5S, 5C and 4S are expected to collectively account for 14.75 million units sold.

The iPhone business alone could bring in as much as $46.5 billion in revenue during the quarter.

Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus continues to be available in limited quantities. According to Kuo, this indicates robust demand while also confirming concerns regarding constraints within the supply chain. It’s unclear exactly which component(s) are slowing down production but by all accounts, Apple is turning out more iPhone 6 units than they are of the larger model.

Apple’s stock has once again hit an all-time high on the estimates. As of writing, shares are trading at $119.19 which is down just slightly from the $119.35 record earlier today.

Good for them. A solid product with solid customer service. I hate that much money going to a single source though. Sadly, capitalism is looking to be wrapping up exactly how its intended, like a game of monopoly where 1 player has all the money in the end. I hope some handset makers step up to keep the game a bit more even for a while. Maybe the new Microsoft line? I been using a 920 as of late and not sure if I will replace it with a 6+ or a 1520..

You completely forget there are a few million happy iPhone users. it's not like Apple has all this money because we're paying them tax. Would you prefer socialism where everyone gets an equal share of misery? Or capitalism, where one party gets rich making something that the other party is happy to give them money to own. It's Win-Win. Stop complaining.

(On to the actual article....)

Well... the iPhone 6 only had like 10 days of the last quarter to build sales in. Coupling a new release with the holiday season should give high results like this.

Would you prefer socialism where everyone gets an equal share of misery?

I would prefer a system of a mixture of both where everyone gets an equal share of the pleasure (with a ceiling cap). I am also a happy iPhone customer. I use and love all 3 ecosystems.

I have both the iPhone 5s (as a work cell) and a LG Optimus G (personal cell), and I much prefer the open environment we get with Android than the closed and controlled environment we get with IOS. I wouldn't mind it if IOS was open too in the way of what you can do with the phone without the need to jailbreak it (which I'm not allowed to do on the work cell), I would probably actually like it, but it doesn't feel right when you can't do what you want with the phone. I never felt the need to root my Optimus G and can do everything I want with it.

Anyway, enough feeding the troll.

Yeah, but there's no point to a cap because there can be enough for everyone. In your first post you said "where 1 player has all the money in the end" There's no such thing as 'all the money' Money (more generally, wealth) is not finite. It can be created out of nothing. This is proven in the headline of this article, 'Apple stock swells'... The stock price went up because people think Apple will sell more phones in the future. That means everyone (and every retirement/pension fund) that has stock in Apple now has more money than they did yesterday. They did nothing to earn this and the money didn't come from anyone else. It literally materialized out of nothing simply because people think Apple has more value today than yesterday.

Now, it could go back down of course, but over the long run (and definitely the last 5 years) the entire market has gone up a TON. That means a lot of money for a lot of people that didn't require taking it from anyone else. In fact, one of the biggest reasons the US Mint has to print money all the time is so people can have cash for all that new wealth that was created.

Anyway, enough feeding the troll.
My bad. We did already have this argument the last time there was a story about wealth and tech companies... I think it was the MS CEO's salary if I remember right. No point in beating a dead horse.

If this is true, why not print as much as you want then? Why not print a Million for each person? /s
So long as they did it slowly enough, they could. If they did it fast It would cause crazy high inflation. I'd be happy to explain, but I've seen the /s at the end of your post used as a closing tag for sarcasm a few too many times. ;)

This is great news for the NSA! Think how much overtime that could mean!

Not to mention 7 million more iPhone owners/winners as potential members for Techspot, every man jack one of them, whining about their iPhone being tapped...

Is this a win, win, win, win, or what? The 4th win is for Apple).
