Apple's new iPad Air earns low repairability score from iFixit

Today, peoples addiction to listening to themselves talk, and inflicting that yapping on everybody they can possibly find stupid enough to tolerate it, is a full blown epidemic.

Then why is it all you ever seem to do exactly that, your contradicting yourself in your own augment by running on about... Automotive repair? Yes good for you, you worked in a vaguely related field because, you had to repair things by replacing parts, the similarities are just so evident that if you hadn't pointed in out no one would have ever noticed. I'll assume it was your "more than a decade" in the automotive field that left you so bitter and quick to assume your right and everyone else is wrong, pretty typical mechanic attitude, almost seems like it comes with the trade. This leaves you feeling empty inside, almost like something is missing, and the only way you can feel better about being right about something is by "yapping on everybody they can possibly find stupid enough to tolerate it". Well I'm just saying I'm not tolerating it, the only way I can by pointing it out, that's pretty much all I can do because it's a pointless forum topic about even less important Apple products, that no one owns or cares to own. This is where presumably, the self proclaimed nastiest person in this forum will have something, well, nasty to say.

Actually, I think working in the auto trade bettered me a a person. I didn't grow up to be some sissy boy, pounding the teensy-tiny "keys" on an IPhone, and all the while basking in the delusion of how much status owning it will bring me.

Second, I didn't bring up the so called stupid analog in the first place, cliffordcooley did.

Third, I didn't "self proclaim myself the nastiest person in the forum", (actually the term was >meanest), cliffordcooley did that as well. I did however, graciously, accept that accolade. So, at this point I'd like to suggest that you tweak your reading interpretation skills

Nobody really cares what "you're going to put up with", least of all me. You can put me on your ignore list, or simply this; don't answer your iPhone "calls" (my thread posts), but the over arching solution, would be to simply not read my posts in the first place. They do follow forum rules, "no excessive profanity", "no name calling or profanity directed at an individual"),(I think hitting ignore, where I'm concerned would take care of that). After all, I have in excess of 500 "likes", and you haven't hit 70 yet. So, I really am here for the laughs!

The moral there is, it would seem that I don't get under everybody's skin. Because at the moment, it only seems to be yours and cliffordcooley.

BTW, nice avatar. Maybe someday when we're getting on better, I may kiss you and turn you into a princess.:p

The only problem you have with it is the fact it wasn't your analogy. I've seen countless analogies I thought was stupid that you have made as well.

Please tell me you did not go there, while linking my name three times. You want to compare likes compare them to mine.

What's up cliffordcooley ? You want to go off about inappropriate and off topic? You should revisit the thread we're you were claiming the government no no right to hit you up for child support, and you had a much better reason for not paying it. What that had to do with the bitcoin thread it was posted in, (if memory serves) I haven't the vaguest idea. So trust me, I've seen plenty in the way off topic nonsense from you as well.

Then, you're often trying to moderate my forum activity, when it's clearly not within your scope of authority to do.

And, I'd be happy to compare my likes with yours. Mine were, for the most part, garnered with my sense of humor.

Yours, are garnered from posting here 24/7, and playing "the last angry young man", to an audience of adolescents.
Gee I wonder how mechanics would love to just replace the whole car. Instead they replace components that are pre-assembled. Thats right pre-assembled parts, instead of actually fixing the faulty part.

OK, this is plain silly, and not comparable. I can't fathom how you manged to come back with , "practice what you preach".

At the bottom of the "iPhone repairability issue is this; oftentimes circuits are "potted". That is when the components are fixed in place with a compound the prevents movement. It's something that we used to do with control surface servos in radio control aircraft. The servos operate in an extremely harsh, high vibration environment, and the stops (sometimes), broken solder joints and the attendant crashed aircraft. Oh, and electric guitar pickups are sometimes potted to prevent them from being microphonic.

So, do I know that this is Apple's intent in the iPhone...NO. Is it at least possible that this is part of the reason for all the glue.... YES. Cell phones lead a harsh, high impact life, as well

As for this thread, it isn't news. Smart phones aren't designed to be user serviceable. So, the electronics industry has upped the ante on throwaway devices to close to $600.00...

And really, "iFixit" just published this underwhelming statement of the patently obvious to....to....to.(Wait a minute, it may come to me).

You are the one taking my analogy as comparing functionality, when in fact it was comparing repair ability. You are the worst member on this forum, taking what people say and twisting it into something they didn't mean just to do it.
And BTW, I have no intention of listening to Adhmuz saying "I proclaimed myself as "the nastiest member of the forum", when clearly you're the one who posted it.

Do you want a medal? Honestly could give less of a ****, but I'll let you ride your high horse.

The moral there is, it would seem that I don't get under everybody's skin. Because at the moment, it only seems to be yours and cliffordcooley.

And as much as I would love to humor you and go back to the Dozens of threads you've done the exact same thing your doing here. Which is get under one or two peoples skins and hijacking the thread to prove your superior in every way, for whatever reason that is. Your going to say for the sake of proving some benign point. As much as I would love to, I'm not, you know it, cliffordcooley knows it, and all the people who have set you to ignore know it, so why waste my evening.

I didn't grow up to be some sissy boy, pounding the teensy-tiny "keys" on an IPhone

Then why do you act like it? You seem like an adult, hasn't life taught you how to just drop it and not rant on and on... I think I just realized something, I should be respecting my elders. That must be your point, you must just know everything there is to know about everything.

Good Day Sir.

captaincranky

Its been nice knowing you, no wait no it hasn't. You've definitely been living up to your moniker. I think it is time I put you on ignore. Feel free to shout all you want to.

"Feel free to rant", says the man who can't seem to shut up himself....

Oh, and I have a couple of suggestions for what you might do with that medal.;)

Well DeeBee, Cliffey put me on his ignore list, why don't you follow suit?

I'm not going to put him on my ignore list. I'm concerned about him, and I want to keep up with his mood swings and his child support woes. I guess that content will go in the "News" forum.

BTW, "I know it all" isn't as big an insult as you were trying to get off. Truth of the matter is, the longer you live, the more you should learn. It gives you something to look forward to.

After reading the posts from captaincranky, cliffordcooley & Adhmuz I almost forgot what this topic was about. Come guy's, life's too short & shouldn't always be taken too seriously. Just like these topics.
So then, I'll bring you back up to "speed"...

You should take your iPhone to your auto mechanic to see if he can fix it (*)..He should have a 3 pound ball peen and a cold chisel at his disposal, thereby facilitating splitting the case halves, or removing any stubborn clumps of glue that may be encountered. That way, for the bargain price of $????.00, you'll be more than prepared to confirm or dispute "iFixit's" assessment of the "device (**)", without cracking a sweat, or getting glue on your hands.

Either that, or the first time your car breaks down, take it to the Apple Store, and let them throw it away for you.

Or, throw your car away, and drive your iPhone to work. Since it's allegedly glued together, and is very light, it stands a better chance of surviving the potholes than the car does anyway.

Or, don't bother to go to work at all. Just, "phone it in", the way the Philly Eagles usually do. (I haven't a clue what happened yesterday). The Eagles trouncing another team! Hooda thunk that?

BTW, good luck finding an "unlimited plan", if you plan to further your career by wanking into an iPhone. But then, the pop on talking cars has gone up, so maybe the charges will even out over the next ten years or so.

So, the iPhone is put together with glue, is it? Then I say, "glue, glue everywhere, but not a drop to huff"......:) For 600 bucks, at least they could break you off a tube to help deaden the sticker shock.

(*) Hopefully, he won't be too busy throwing automobiles away, to fit your stinking iPhone into his hectic schedule.

(**) Cool, contemporary, computer colloquialism, that's pretty well clogged to death.

How was that, did I treat the topic and the iPhone, with the dignity & respect they deserve?:p

UPS handed me one of these not an hour ago:
24-009-424-TS

I tried and failed to send lewd text messages & pictures of my bumm with it, and it won't fit in my back pocket. Is that useless or what? That's what I get for cheaping out, and spending a paltry $200.00 bucks on something as useless as a 27" monitor.

Waddya think, should I donate it to iFixit to destroy?

Let's see if we can't get on topic shall we?
Aw, ya pulled my post and not theirs. Does that seem fair? It was after all two against one. Or maybe 3 to 1 now?

Besides, they allegedly can't see it anyway.

Oh, the topic, right. Some click garnering website claims is hard to self repair an iPhone. That actually should be so patently obvious, it should be a felony for Techspot to link to it.

Got to cut it off somewhere. You went a little overboard.

Fair warning: Any posts that continue this off topic line of discussion will deleted regardless of the rest of the post's content.

Oh gosh golly no, not that!

Jus' kiddin', been there, experienced that.

Riddle me this one Mailman, why on earth would anyone expect something with the miniaturization & packing density of a smart phone, would be repairable with untrained, semi skilled labor, and common hand tools?

That light bulb must have gone on when the team at "iFixit's" team sat on it....:D
