Automated hiring systems prevent millions of good candidates from getting through the...

The hiring process has become ridiculous in many companies. You start the job application, upload the resume. Wait, the ATS (applicant tracking system) didn't read your resume correctly. Now you have to manually fill in the information. But wait, the system has a 250KB limit for resumes, so you have to convert it into a text file or something similar. Finally, when that nightmare is finished, you have to go through a few more rounds including a personality assessment with 200 questions and maybe some brain games. If you make it to the next round, you have to go through like 5 interviews, and then if you pass those, they bait and switch and tell you they can't give you the salary you requested and offer you something lower. So you start the interview process all over again at another company.

HR is just adding a few layers of unnecessary bureaucracy to the hiring process. Hiring should be easy. What I would do is first come first served. The first resume I get, if the person is qualified for the job, the person will get an interview and a job. Easy peasy. This way, there is no bias in the hiring process and it's fair to the applicants who applied.

Then you compete with bots. Tried to buy a GPU in the last year or so? Yah.

It's just the world. It sucks. Im disabled and so dont have to fight that fight anymore. Now I get to fight the medical system.

But that's bad for the company, so why would they do this? They don't want people who fill the checkboxes, they want the best they can possibly get (at the lowest price they can get away with).

This has nothing to do with automated systems. Manual process is equally plagued with mistakes. I've see job offers requiring irrelevant qualifications, totally unneeded for a particular job, missing people who are experts, but not having the irrelevant qualification. Just because someone copy/pasted text from the previous ad.

I guess if you initially hire stupid people to HR, then they recruit more stupid people to HR (coz they don't wanna hire someone smarter than themselves). The stupid-united HR then ruin the entire company by hiring anti-talents in other departments.

"At a time when companies are struggling to find skilled workers". Who needs skilled workers when you can have inclusiveness and wokeness. After all, the machines do all the work, don't they? :) Hipsters are there just to drink coffee and spend their valuable time looking down at the screens of their smartphones.

You took the words from my mouth with the last phrase. HR did and still do the same in our company. Those who had left the company over time were replaced by less-skilled, sensitive-in-feelings but very lazy individuals.

Don't worry folks - your average HR person is just as clueless as the AI mentioned in the article. They do elementary pattern matching (something that literally even a monkey can do), as in, the lead gives them the keywords, they Ctrl + F, and if they don't find what they're looking for, you're done. That's their "skill". If you shorten some tech in your CV? If you use competing, very similar tech? Well, that's your problem.
