The hiring process has become ridiculous in many companies. You start the job application, upload the resume. Wait, the ATS (applicant tracking system) didn't read your resume correctly. Now you have to manually fill in the information. But wait, the system has a 250KB limit for resumes, so you have to convert it into a text file or something similar. Finally, when that nightmare is finished, you have to go through a few more rounds including a personality assessment with 200 questions and maybe some brain games. If you make it to the next round, you have to go through like 5 interviews, and then if you pass those, they bait and switch and tell you they can't give you the salary you requested and offer you something lower. So you start the interview process all over again at another company.
HR is just adding a few layers of unnecessary bureaucracy to the hiring process. Hiring should be easy. What I would do is first come first served. The first resume I get, if the person is qualified for the job, the person will get an interview and a job. Easy peasy. This way, there is no bias in the hiring process and it's fair to the applicants who applied.
