Newcomer Welcome & Hello
Here's some tips for a more pleasurable 3DS experience.

Please Read FAQ's so you have an idea of how the Forum operates.

* Be mindful of our International Membership; use proper English & Grammar.
* Women & Children frequent the boards, watch your language! (TOS is strictly enforced)
* Please Post in the Correct Forum.
* Please use a specific question on the Subject Line.
* This will archive your subject for later searches/retrieval
* Subject lines like "Help me" or "I have a question" are not useful in a help forum.
* Learn to use the Search Feature extensively to answer questions, for the following reasons:
* 1.) Redundant Topics: most popular subjects are currently being discussed, or similar questions have been answered.
* 2.) Links: we might forget a good link that was previously mentioned in answering your question.

Please read the 3Ds homepage www.3dspotlight.com & visit our sponsors
Feel free to quote the articles, guides, reviews & links.

Enjoy!

muwahahahaa..... ;)

they're not tech supports in any way. they're not even paid (as mentioned many many times).
and (also mentinoed many times), 3DS forums is community driven. questions are asked by members and are answered by members.
and as mentioned so many times in this thread, moderators tend to be members who're established and experienced with computers (check the profile). so they spend a lot of time here answering the questions. they'll answer the Q if they want to, and they won't if the don't (just like any other member).
difference between a mod and a tech support:
a mods' job isn't to answer the questions, it's to keep the forums clean.

as for post counts,
it's how much you made yourself heard, not how much you've helped people.
even just a short "lol" can be counted as 1 post.
you could even quote someone and without any further reply, be counted as 1 post.
they tell nothing.
for instsance:
3DS Julio : 204
3DS Thomas : 634
Mr.Garibaldi : 613
look at me, i've got 1000+ posts already! (with hundreds of "lol" and "concur" posts)

haha, that's ok, with every one of your posts, we see a hot chick in your signature :D :grinthumb

I think we could be adding up moderators (now that there are even more boards ;) ) as time passes and we feel the need of them, also, moderator power is given to users that have shown loyalty through time to 3DS and its community.

Through time...dang...I've only been using 3DS for a couple weeks...

And I'm already an Ensign...Man, my frequent posting must be annoying :p

....unk?

...have you stepped down? are you not a mod anymore?? yer name's not listed in the mod column of the openboards page...
...whadda bout bobes? what about...?

Guess so. I'm not surprised...Unc's a pretty cool guy :grinthumb

38 replies...this must be a pretty disputable subject...

I believe most or even all of the moderators are helpful and also they have been with 3DS for quite some time already. That's why you see most of them having many post.

Even in real life, over my short life of experience i have seen and heard some adults having immature or childish attitudes.

I just cannot put the same amount of time into moderating that the other moderators do. Believe me, they do a lot of good work. I actually forfitted moderatorship quite a while ago, Arris took my place moderating the old hardware forum :)

I thank thee for including me in such honoured company :)

But your point is very valid...
It's not about how much you're posting, but the quality in your posts...

And for me both have dropped after I took a little trip out of this world... ;)
(Never knew I'd get so far in the Conservative Youth movement so fast, and how much work it really is... But, by golly, it's great fun! :D)

Basically the way it works is, "We notice you!"
You are recruited due to the:
* Quality of your posts & answers.
* Your attitude. (friendly, helpful, & genuine)
* Your forum leadership & management skills.
* Your loyality to 3DS.

Then we discuss your profile & your potential on the Famous secret tread everyone is talking about... We might chat w/ you Via PM or ICQ, get to know you. Then if the majority of Forum Leaders agree, you're admitted to PDF & "in the pool" from which mods are drawn.

Bobes decided being a mod was taking away from his staff duties as Senior Hardware Editor. Most importantly, you must have the time & the dedication to devote to the "job" of being a mod.
