Blue screen

Computer boots to blue screen with the message a problem has been detected and windows has to shutdown run Chkdsk/f.

Did you run Chkdsk/f or does the computer immediately shut down? If it does, the hard drive ( boot drive) may be bad

The hd was from another laptop, could that be the issue, because it was from a toshiba satellite and I put in my dell latitude to to test it out because I didn't have a power cord for the toshiba

Yes, this could very well be the entire problem. Try to get Windows re-installed fresh on the laptop you want to use
