BSoD on clean install of XPpro

Alright, so I'm trying to make a clean install of XPpro from a boot cd onto a slave ATA drive. During the installation I got a stop error. the file associated was this.
kbdhid.sys address F78AEA14 base at F78AEA14 Datestamp 00000000

there wasn't a minidump in the usual location, as this was an installation, but if there is a place it would be stored during this operation, let me know where to get it.

what I would like to do is install the OS on my Slave for a dual boot. I'm not sure if the install disc is messed up, causing the corrupt file or what.

Thanks in advance for your help, and let me know if there is anything here I forgot to mention.
