Bugged Notification Indicator

Thanks. Because the issue is cookie related, logging out and back in and starting a browser session from scratch may be needed.

scroll through the notifications (which all appeared dark with the dark mode active)
Do I hear a dark mode color issue?

Do I hear a dark mode color issue?

I cleared out all cookies for techspot.
Logged out of techspot.
Closed out the browser.
Opened the browser and logged back into techspot and it shows 2 notifications. I hold the mouse cursor over the notification indicator and.....

Here's what I see when I'm on the homepage:

Looks like things are working.

I clicked on the Forums tab up top and it shows 1 notification still active so I hold the mouse cursor over it and I see this:

Looks like a dark mode issue is still persistent here.

At the moment, no issue with viewing notifications. I'll post again if the problem shows up, but it appears still some kind of issue with notifications showing up in dark mode color.

Gosh, everybody has a complaint. I just figured a marvelous function of this software.

If you first select a section of a post you'd like to address, then hit "reply", you only quote the passage you want to quote, and nothing else.

Now fixed.

As for the alerts. It seems we have fixed the bug, BUT... there is a difference in how Xenforo 2.1 and 2.2.x alerts work.

Before, only looking at the alerts would mark them as seen/read. But now you have to go to the actual threads to clear them or mark them in the drop down. I do think that's kind of annoying. Let us look into that next.

As near as I can tell, Xenforo doesn't clear a notification, until you actually visit the post in question. This is different from Vbulletion which clears all the notices, as soon as you hit the fly-out panel.
@Julio Franco I vaguely remember myself saying that, but I can't remember exactly when.

Oh wait, here it is, post #22

With that out of the way, I still think the notification panel is working as well as can be expected. IMO, there is a lot of interaction with the browser cache going on.

For example, if you post to a page, the navigate away from it, if you hit thr "back" button, the pager eill be displayed with out your latest post. All that need be done, is to simply refresh the page, and viola, there's your post.

Xenforo caches posts written, but not submitted. By contrast, Vbulletin, simply erases everything you've written, even should you navigate away from the page accidentally.

With, Zenforo, you can put the machine to sleep, even exit the browser, and when you get back to the page, you post is still there. So, Xenforo seems to contain a "save as you go", function, similar to other word processors.

I honestly don't think the way the notifications are working now, is an issue anywhere near the complaining about it, and further effort put into it, is necessary..Granted, it's a bit quirky, but simply mousing over the panel neutralizes the notifications back to the point where only your "conversations" are showing.

Being as old, lazy, and no longer having the 20/20 vision of my youth, I could give a crap about the "dark mode". Black print
on a white background is just fine and dandy.
