If I'm going to appropriate a quote, somehow I believe just the act of attaching quotation marks really doesn't credit the originator as much as it should..That's why I put it in quotes. That way people who were interested could search the quote and find the relevance without me having to post the whole song. George was right.
I agree there's no need to post the whole song as the source. However, the annotation "George Harrison, from "Taxman", is worthwhile since it avoids any hint of plagiary, and certainly eases the search for the millennials here who have possibly just barely heard of the Beatles, let alone being familiar with their songs overall.
Besides, there is a sort of ironic context to the rest of the lyrics. "There's one for you nineteen for me", is a broadside at the British government, the Beatles having gotten themselves into the 95% income tax bracket. Apparently in the UK, rich people have to pay taxes, unlike here in the US.
