Can not delete MP3 Files

I have a folder called myipodbackup in my shared folder. It has about 4gb worth of songs and I do not want them anymore so I tried deleting them and I get the message:
Can Not Delete......Access Denied
Make Sure The Disk Is Not Full Or Write Protected
and the file is not currently in use. What can I do to delete them.

There is no security tab, all there is general, sharing, and custom. Let me know what my options are thanks

What I ended up doing was sharing the folder then moving it to my documents and for some reason it gave me ownership and I was able to delete the whole folder.
