I've found lately a lot of posts with Trump and Musk, and the comments get firey almost instantly with 1vs1 debates. I also see other posts getting less comments as a result. TechSpot is a tech site, let's focus on debating tech and less on politics since plenty of other sites cover this already.

I 100% agree with this. Articles containing politics wouldn't be so offensive if the political system of the world were less a brainless circus. Then there are the people commenting on same and showing just how much they want to emulate that circus. It's doltish to an extreme.

Thanks for the feedback. Our take is that we don't pick stories based on whether they are political or not, that's only tangential to their relevance as tech stories. ries. Recently, with the change in US government, there have been a number of developments (tariffs, laws, etc.) that impact or could impact the tech industry, so we cover some of that.

Also, Musk is now involved in the government but he's also a tech CEO, so it's all intertwined, and that's just how things are. Just as we don’t run a story because it’s political, we also don’t avoid one because it is.

Unfortunately, there’s increasing polarization between left and right, but we are not affiliated with either side of the aisle. In fact, most of our staff isn’t even American, so the party angle is largely irrelevant to us.

Regarding user comments, we aim to allow all civil discussion and let users express their beliefs—so long as it remains respectful. When conversations cross the line into flaming or personal attacks, we issue warnings and delete comments, no matter who is involved.
