Cannot download pictures from camera + other problems

I'm new here and need some major help. When I start up my computer it takes a long time. When I plug my camera in, it used to autorun and download the pictures. Now, it won't and the cannon zoom mx won't run except in safe mode, even though I uninstalled and reinstalled. Any help would be appreciated. I've been trying for days and seem to be making matters worse. TIA
