Cant figure out how to get sims 2 to work!

please help!!!

okay, so earlier i posted a problem about my direct X 9.0 not working and i followed someones advice and deleted some stuff about the sims2 from my computer and then uninstalled it, I'm now trying to reinstall it but for some reason the D drive stopped reading disks! not only sims 2 but all of them. and then when i went to "my computer" it didn't show that there was a d drive at all! i hope i didnt mess up my computer, someone please help me!

im a noobie but it sounds to me like the drive is dead or isnt working properly, right click on "my computer" click on the hardware tab, then click divivce maniger, see if there is a circled !exlamation mark higlirted in yellow, if not then i dont know, if so write me a post.

Is it podssable that you could have killed the drive somehow like oping the case of the computer and tutching it or hitting it very hard. Just a thought
