Can't install Google Earth 5

  1. Hello I can't install Google earth using Google updater or direct download. When I try google updater it just says install failed and when I use the direct download exe file I get the error message 'This installation package could not be opened, verify that the package exists and that you can open it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package' when it has unpacked and the installer file had been started. I run Vista Home Premium and I had the same problem for Adobe Reader 9, and the common link is the use of an automatic updater in both programmes.

    I suggest you check the system requirements for Google Earth. When I was running eTrust, AV from Computer Associates, I saw comment that GE could be downloaded. But for this:
    I suggest you take the auto-update off! The fewer 'auto' updates the better. You don't need programs calling the internet every day, maybe more than one time a day, to see if there is an update!
