Can't open a zipped file

I've recently got my laptop back from repairs because I had a corrupted Hard Drive, so they had to replace it. A couple of days prior to the Hard Drive corrupting I had took a backup of all my files and put them on an online storage medium. When I put the files online on Dropbox.com they were compressed and locked, now I've got the files back onto my laptop I can't open any of them or extract them, it says I need to edit permissions. When I go to permissions it shows my user account as having all permissions (open, close files. Make new files, delete files) etc... but I can't do any of that...

What version of windows are you using? Google something like Windows how take ownership to find directions for how "to take ownership of folders and files" for your version of windows

It already shows me as the owner of the file in advanced properties, but does not let me open the folder
