Capcom fights back against 'Street Fighter V' rage-quitters

You're a bit off on your example Technician. It would be like participating in an Olympic run and when another runner is losing, he stops running and walks off the track... but now the race doesn't count since there were no other participants... not matter how good your time was.

There can be a lot more to this than you seem to give credit for. It's obviously very unimportant to you and it makes me wonder why you even bother to comment if so. Doing really well in these environments can actually affect your real life. You can get picked up for sponsorship due to how well you do and be recruited for some of the professional teams. I'm not sure if you've paid attention to any of the pro gaming leagues but sometimes the payouts are in the millions of dollars these days. eSports is a real thing now and it's getting harder each year to pretend that it's just a "kids' pastime".

While I agree 'Technician' is all over the place, don't merge kids gaming with Pro's.
99.99% of people that try to get picked up professionally don't. You don't have to be good, you have to be DAMN GOOD.

It's quite common in a lot of games just, when it become repeat offenders trying to ruin your day? I'd happily laugh at them when they get punished, by ducking out on taking a loss. Accept your losses and lumps, move on like a good person and play the game as it's intended. They get a rush when they stomp someone, but are allowed to avoid a loss? All because they'd rather a perfect record, which you should be earning properly.

Just put all the rage-quitters in a pool against each other, see how long until they get upset at the company for their placement. If they can actually play for say a week without rage quitting, they could then be put back in with the rest of the players. Otherwise leave them there, let em know they can't return and let them sulk. :p

Sure I might be a bitter individual, but you get tired of such nonsense in games. Better to throw them in another pool of users, than actually letting them interrupt your enjoyment of a game. It doesn't matter to many win or lose honestly, but when you get those who back out upon losing? How is that really an enjoyable match? Sure you can shrug it off, but string those in a row as an example. You might get fed up with the nonsense after a while.
Oh, my goodness, it's a dumb video game, no one cares who wins or loses it's pointless. No employer will ever check your game record to make the decision to hire you or not or give you a raise or not. It's pixels people.
No loan officer will check your record in a game after your credit score and give weight to both.

I dare say, in so many words, you have cleverly exposed how ill equipped you are to understand the situation from the point of view of the players of this game hence the nature of your comments. More importantly, you seem like you really do not care!

So I suggest others shouldn’t try too hard to enlighten you about the situation. Maybe you will do better to comment on a topic you care more about or are more willing to understand. To each his own…

That part of my response was actually to a previous post:
But don't be surprised when kids act like kids.

The term "kids" is kind of a loose descriptor. Everyone is someone's kid and to those of us who are old enough to possibly have adult children even other adults can be seen as kids. I work for a university and to me all the undergrads and most of those working on their master's are kids to me. It's all relative.

Also, I've seen plenty of actual kids (under 18) that were DAMN GOOD at certain games. A lot of those folks in the DOTA leagues are still kids.

That's a rules problem, not a people problem.
For e sports all participants have to be in the same room as the judges.

You're right, I don't care about this game, the opinions I expressed are about the people not this game.

No it would be like when an unbeaten runner starts, gets tired but is winning, he stops, the race is cancelled and he is still unbeaten, even though other runners would have won. The issue is Dc'ing to maintain a clean record of wins to gimp the system and leader boards. As has already been said the fix would be to count a DC as a loss
