Cd rom drive not working

when I insert a disc into my cd rom drive it attempts to load up but just ends up making a weird noise, it will load very seldomly but eventually just ends up not being able to read the disc anyway, it will play dvds fine. any help is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

If your drive is reading DVD`s of but not CD`s, then there`s a distinct possibility that the drive needs replacing.
