China starts production of AMD-based x86 CPUs

That's about as far as their logic goes... I want to hear the argument as to why equal tarrifs are a dumb idea
That's simple: Because the cost of the tariffs is coming out of the consumer's pocket regardless of geographic location. If no single country were to challenge the US, and despite pleas to do otherwise, they are, then those in the geographic location that the tariffs affect would be the ones paying for it. However, since all nations have promised to impose their own tariffs, every consumer will pay more. You might as well call these tariffs YaGT - Yet another Government Tax.

Seems almost traitorous to be peddling x86 licenses to china at this point. I suppose amd is that desperate to make a buck nowaday. intel, a true american marvel

(Edit) All these years Chinese and the rest of the world have been using and relying on our CPUs, would that makes the whole world unpatriotic? How about all of us (the USA included) using ARM chips, which was British until recently when it was purchased by a Japanese firm, in our phones? ARM is licensed to the US, Korean, and Chinese chip designers. We need to look beyond border lines to advance.

This has literally nothing to do with the “orange bumble****”. Chinese initiatives like this one have been in the works long before he got into office. I get you hate him, but go do something more productive than qq about him on every news article you read, if you can’t stand him so much.
What is your solution or suggestion?

A competent adult as president? I mean, that would probably be a good step.

Elon musk to build FAB in space as licensing agreements do not extend beyond Earths Atmosphere?
Whos in chARGE OF cHINESE cpu mfr? IP-man

Oh yes, Intel is such a patriot that it's doing the same thing AMD is and more. It has a fab in China and it's invested $1.5 billion this year alone in the state sponsored group spearheading China's push for chip independence.

By your own words is Intel "that desperate to make a buck"?

Nice try but Intel isn't supplying China with their own IP like AMD is, they're merely manufacturing some of their chips there.

Also ... when the Chinese government started a new level of production for AMD, through their Hong Kiat marketplace, it opened new channels in the technology company pretty rapidly. Most of our tech is made in China anyways. We have no way of knowing whether it came from one country or the other. Sometimes it is nice to be country specific with certain products. All in all, the Chinese Advanced Micro Devices division has decided to make x86-based processors on their own doing. This could be a huge catalyst for of exchange in the older and more versatile, 32-bit processor variety.
