Hello, names Shawn trying to figure out whats wrong with my pc.
p4vm800 as-rock mother board
2.8 prescott proc.
geforce 7300gt
dynex 450 watt psu
Kingston 1024mb ram
7200rpm maxtor 80gb hd
onboard lan
Basically, my old computer went up and i decided to build a new one that was in my price range. I got it setup and i started having alot of hanging problems but they went away after the first day. It performed beautifully until tonight,(exactly 7 days later) i downloaded Prince of Persia from direct2drive and got an "I/O error corrupt installation" error.
Minutes later my computer started acting strange. It would hang for 30-40seconds and give me 5 seconds where i can control it. After about a half a dozen restarts i decided to check bios to see if it was an overheating issue. Motherboard was steady at 32 degrees celcius, processor was at 47 degrees.
I was out of options so i reformatted and its running as expected again, however i know im not out of the woods. Event viewer is showed and is currently showing no errors.
I'm a student at ksu we have to have the most up to date windows updates, run mcafee, and cisco clean access agent. Other then that i can't think of anything im leaving out. exam week is coming up and any tips, help, or input is much appreciated.
