Cpu upgrade

Ok so this is on my friends old system, he has a Dell Optiplex GX110 with A09 Bios Version, and we sucesfully upgraded his P3 733 to a P3 933 on his old A05 version bios. So now he wanted to put in a 1.2Ghz Celeron but it fails, any ideas why?

Get the latest Bios. You are going to have to flash it.

why would you want to replace a PIII with a celeron?

the 933MHz PIII probably performs as well or better than the 1.2GHz celery stick.

remember there's more to determining processor performance than it's clock speed.

my friend doesnt know that, he takes things literally (even though he knows that celerons are out performed by p3's) so he thinks clock speed is better...this is also a kid who thought that if he upgraded to 64mb Vid Card (PCI) he could play fear, on a 733mhz p3 lol

and he looks for quantity, he wants like a 500gb hd, and 512mb vid card (pci, again lol) from some wiered manufactarer with an old chipset
