"Crappy PCs" are the biggest barrier to VR adoption, claims Oculus founder

PC gaming has become an arms race between game developers and hardware engineers...games that affordable hardware can't run and hardware most of us really don't believe is worth the investment. $1500 won't get you very far anymore. Try double that.

Perhaps this guy could stop being a prick about it? Stating that "the general PCs in use are not powerful enough to run VR yet" is far more acceptable than "your crappy pc is the barrier to adoption".

Did you even read the original source of that comment before deciding the guy was being a prick? It was somewhat taken out of context. It was a Q&A session, and someone had asked something that related to him wondering if his crappy PC would be up to the task. Luckey responded using the same term. It wasn't insulting or elitist-- it was cordial.

People with crappy PC's can't afford a rift anyway so these people are not part of their market. This essentially comes down to "Too many people are too poor to use our product".

Was gunna say the same. Also I think the min spec is higher than what you need in reality. I used the DK2 on a 670GTX on a Core2 Quad with no issues.

CV1 and Vive are more demanding than DK2. I have a GTX 680 overclocked by 145mhz on core and 155mhz on vram and have to set Elite Horizons to "low" preset to maintain FPS.

Yes going up to 90fps from 75fps alone needs quite abit of more power, but the amount of performance jump from these new drivers are looking very promising, can now run unreal engine 4 demos on a gtx660ti which were originally only getting 35fps, so with the amount of support coming from amd and nvidia we could be able to run the cv1 on gtx950's eventually

I wish I could get that performance increase on Elite Horizons just by driver update. I have the latest Nvidia drivers. DX12 should bring performance improvements this year.

Ah yes those games arent really helped, its more for games only made for vr, does elite horizons work with SDK 0.8?

Okay because I know like slender and among the sleep and a few others didnt update to the new driver

The Forest never bothered to update and VR with that is broken. Radial-G and quite a few others have updated. SteamVR support came to Elite Dangerous when Horizons launched. I ask for refund on steam for any VR game that doesn't support latest runtime now :)

That gives me an idea. I think I will start asking for a refund of games that doesn't support DX12. Maybe they will get a hint and start putting out DX12 titles.

Lol. Hold a demonstration outside the game developer HQ. Starting to see DX12 announcements for games now. Just cause 3, Formula 1 2016, Star Citizen.

I post reviews for games I buy on Steam and sometimes that means a negative review if the developer promised VR and or hasn't updated runtime and shows little interest.
