Crazy CPU temps

When you do that, have a look at what processes are causing the usage spikes. If you use Resource Monitor, instead of Task Manager, you can track the usage of specific processes running.

Edit: Hmm, so it's not the infamous Vanguard causing it then...
 
Ok, I did that, and there doesn't really seem to be any relation in the spikes with the processes.
 
It's possible that it could well be a faulty thermal diode in the CPU itself - it's rare but does occur. However, if you're happy enough with the actual performance, then don't worry about the temperatures: the 2400G has a max TDP of 65W, so it's not a huge amount of heat being generated.
 
I thought it was faulty at first too. And it may well be! I am perfectly happy with the performance, I just was keeping an eye on it because I didn't want to have reduced life, and hitting it's shutdown temp, 95c.
