Crysis Patch Issue

I recently installed Crysis and the three patches that are avaible for it. The first time I did this the game froze at startup at a black screen, and eventaully restarted my computer. I then reinstalled Crysis, and tested the game after installing each patch. Well when I got to the second patch(1.2) I encountered the same problem again. I start the game, it goes to a black screen, and it just freezes. If anyone has any suggestions to help me fix this problem, that would be greatly appreciated. :)

My understanding of game patches has always been that the latest includes all previous.

Don't install any but the latest would be my advice.

It says that you need to install the previous patches before installing the lastest. Also, I just found out that the game doesn't crash if I run it in DX9 mode, which sucks because what's the point of playing Crysis if you can't play it with the best graphics.

So could that be causing the problem; the fact that I installed all patches?

I have no idea - try a re-install (save your saved games if you can) and re-patch.

Or do some more surfing because each game has its' own quirks when it comes to operating systems and patches.

On a side note: An E6700 + an 8800GTX is nice, but unless you're planning on running 800 x 600 or something you won't be able to run full DX10(very high)with playable framerates.

But I can run Crysis with particle effects, water effects, and physics on "Very High", with everything else on "High", which runs at about 30 FPS. I wouldn't be able to do this without DX10.
