Until you turn on ray tracing. First gen implementations suck, more than anyone estimates at the time. Kepler has aged pretty horribly in DX12 for example lol

I don't agree with that. NVidia, Microsoft and Devs have done A LOT of optimizing since RTX released and it shows.
