Got a Dell Dimension 4100 for free. It did not have a hard drive. So, I got a 128gb SD card with a Gintooyun IDE Hard Disk Drive Adapter that I had read somewhere online that worked well.
The BIOS detects the SD fine. However Win98 nor WinME can detect the SD card when I try to install.
After trying a few things and swapping cables for new ones, the issues seems to be the primary IDE slot/socket. I had a floppy boot disk for win 98 and when I connected to the secondary IDE slot/socket it detected just fine and I was able to fdisk the SD from the floppy. The CD, which I plugged into primary IDE slot/socket did not work at all, so I was not able to finish the install.
So whatever is plugged into the primary IDE slot is detected in the BIOS, but is not detected by Windows during install.
Any ideas?
