After looking on the Dell Support forums I was advised that my system:
Dell dimension 8200 uses RDRAM PC800
So I went and bought 2 x 128 (I understand RDRAM has to be in pairs)
SAMSUNG Memory 800-45

They fit in the slots fine, but when the PC boots its beeps and displays and error saying the memory is incompatible, please replace with memory 40ns or faster!

Please advise!!!

Cheers

Did you get an upgrade on the motherboard or processor?
The Dell 8200 base model might use PC800, but if you upgraded it might take some faster RAM. Check into that and post back.

Are you mixing ECC with Non-ECC memory? That would be a problem if so.

Well let's just say we tried it once on a Precision 420 - it would boot with either type of memory in it, but wouldn't do anything but beep if we put both. I'm sure it should've worked though.

does your computer have a P4 witha 533 mhz FSB? if it does be advised that intels manual says that for P4 processors with 400 Mhz FSB Rdram800Mhz 40 or 45 are fine but P4's with 533 mhz are Rdram 800-40 ONLY. I noticed your Rdram spec is 800mhz -45
