Dell Latitude 3470 HDD password Lock

Hi All tech, please I need urgent help on my Dell Latitude 3470 laptop which I set a HDD password and was unable to login as I was locked out during the process that I can not recall how I typed the password. As I was thinking of a password but I must have typed the wrong password. therefore I couldn't login to my laptop.

first of all I need my data files to be as it is. I dont want to lose my files.
please advise If I can reset using Cmos battery reset if it might not erase my data or if there is any help.
As I need my files urgently

Thanks much

If that is indeed your laptop you need to call dell and let them help you.
If they refuse to do so after looking up the laptops records and warrenty info.
You could grab a live a linux usb drive, boot the linux cd, have another flash drive at 8gb - 32gb.
Copy any files you need from your download folder, documents folder.

After that you need to find your os reinstall disk, full format the hard drive and keep on trucking.
Sure you could try resetting the cmos battery but that won't do much at all.
Had a few computers that belong to someone else and they locked themselves out of the hdd or bios.
If I can't get into it they're looking at a new computer soon, so pretty much you are dealing with fort knox at the moment.
