Disable or uninstall on-board graphics drivers?

I see many responses saying either to disable or to uninstall on-board graphics drivers. I have a Dell E310 with Windows XP and currently has the integrated intel chipset. I was just wondering if there was any difference in either disabling or uninstalling the drivers. I'm about to replace my psu and install the graphics card tomorrow so I want to be sure I'm doing things right. Thank you and I appreciate the help.

Disabling it would be done via the BIOS (or a jumper on an older system). You will have to enter the BIOS and find the option to either disable the onboard video, or, select an option that puts a preference over the use of an expansion slot video card to be used by default.

Uninstalling it would be removing the device drivers and any software belonging to the video card within Windows via the Device Manager.
