Disc boot failure

Hi
I am having problems booting up
on the first screen when booting there are about twenty lines of text [white text on black background] then it says Disc boot failure insert system disc.
I then have to turn power off and reboot again.
This can take five or so goes until windows starts [v. slowly]
I have used the system disc but this sometimes just goes to windows starting logo then freezes
Any ideas??

Just what the title says, "Disk boot failure" Your hard drive is failing. What is this computer, a laptop or desktop computer?

its a desktop
also when it does boot up the starting windows logo stays on for about five mins before starting
its a NVIDIA gforce gt430
