Gearbox Software released a new video today sharing the latest info on Duke Nukem Forever's long road towards release. In a similar fashion to the last update, when a further delay was announced, the studio's president Randy Pitchford delivered the news, only this time they are much sweeter: members of 2K Games and Gearbox Software's 'First Access Club' will be given early access to the game's demo starting June 3 on Xbox 360, PS3, and Steam/PC.

Users can join the First Access Club by purchasing Borderlands Game of the Year Edition or pre-ordering Duke Nukem Forever from select retailers. According to the official website, participating stores in the United States are limited to Amazon and GameStop, and each is offering their own exclusive pre-order goodies. The first will simply get you three free mp3 downloads, while the latter is throwing in a T-shirt pack, big head mode, and in-game EGO boost.

Additionally Gearbox is also offering the limited edition Balls of Steel package that includes a collectible bust, an art book, and more. The game is reportedly going through the certification process on all platforms -- the final step before everyone gets to play it -- and will see its final release on June 10 internationally and June 14 in the U.S.

Gearbox has a lot to live up to considering fans have waited over a decade to play the official sequel to Duke Nukem. For those eagerly awaiting DNF's launch, have you pre-ordered your copy or will you hold off to see some reviews?

I plan on getting DNF the day it releases, but given the history of the title, I refuse to pre-order. I'm sure that there are people out there that pre-orded 15 years ago when DNF was first announced and they have every right to be pissed off. I don't expect the game to live up to 15 years of hype, but I can't help but support game devs that get the job done... even if it is 15 years later. Hail to the king baby.

What's the point of a demo if you have to pay to play it?

Wow! Actually agreeing with a Guest! I play demos to see if I want to buy a game, not just to get to start a little early (DA@ being an exception, but they didn't make me buy it to play the demo).

I don't even have interest in pirating this game...

Hopefully they've updated the jokes from the time this game started development. Those Enron bookkeeping references might go over the heads of the younglings.

Actually Duke Nukem Forever is the biggest SCAM in computer games history till date

You don't have to purchase if you had purchased Borderlands in the past... I bought Borderlands on Steam back in July or something of last year, and was automatically eligable for joining teh "first access club". I will be getting the demo for free, which is awesome. I hope I will want to buy the game after it. But if it sucks, I won't buy...

But I do agree you shouldn't have to buy some other game to get access to this club just to get a demo... that is pretty lame. The demo should be available to everyone, for free. Or maybe they are afraid people won't like it and will skip out on buying the game. I think that is a main reason a lot of companies don't release demos anymore, it helps give some potential customers reasons not to become customers, a crappy game.

you will get to play the demo, but people who support gearbox and enjoyed great games such as borderlands get to play it first before the riffraff (thats why its called first access club).
