DVD won't play DVD, but will play CD-rom

Hi,
I'm new to the forum - I'm writing from Germany and need some help with my HP media center 864n - Just last week it quit playing DVD's, even though I have downloaded the service pack two and the updated Intervideo WinDVD. Do you have any suggestions that might help me get this going again. The DVD writer/cd writer combo was replaced in May when this occured before. Is there anything I can download to help this or should I get a new DVD drive?

Welcome to TechSpot, anika.

You may need to get a OEM copy of PowerDVD 5 or later in deutche or germany or english from your DVD writer retailer. <I think Intervideo wont works. Try InterActual, DivX or Windows Media Players 9 or 10>

you can also try vlc media player. its free and works great
